5 Dangers of Diet Pills

recoveryisbeautiful:

1. Severe Side Effects

Depending on the ingredients, side effects from diet pills can range from:

  • high blood pressure
  • liver problems
  • heart problems
  • headaches
  • nausea
  • breathing problems
  • increased heart rate
  • addiction
  • stomach pain

2. No Weight Loss

3. Not Regulated

Any diet pills sold as health supplements are unregulated by the FDA, with the exception of some restrictions on the advertising claims. Many diet pills have been recalled after adverse effects have been experienced by consumers.

4. Vitamin Deficiency Risks

Many vitamins such as A, D, E and K are fat soluble, meaning they are digested with fat and stored in your body fat and liver. Diet pills can block the adsorption of fat, and these vitamins can he excreted from the body instead of used.

5. Digestion Problems

Fat blocking pills can cause gas with discharge, oily stools, loose stools, pains in the digestive area and other gross side effects. Proper digestion is essential, and these side effects will not feel good or healthy in any way.

prettywar said: So, you know that image you posted after you told me "This is what your plate should look like:" (Or something like that) Should I be eating like that for every meal? So, veggies, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy three times a day?

From memory, yes you need several servings a day. If you go to this website it shows you different types of fruit, veg, etc and the amounts you need of each in a day depending on your age, sex, etc. If you click “MyPlate” in the left hand top of the page it shows the different foods. Click a food type and then on the left hand side of the page it says “How much is needed”. :)

plannedparenthood:

Planned Parenthood is excited to be launching our new Tumblr that’s all about sexual and reproductive health – bodies, birth control, relationship issues, “is it normal for this to do this?” type things. In the coming weeks and months we’ll be sharing what we know, answering questions, and just… tumblring.

We hope you like it! And we hope it helps.

Anti thinspo, pro recovery facebook group

dyke-recovery:

Click here if you want to join!

So the group is usually a secret group meaning that if you join, nobody on your facebook friends list will be able to see the group even exists which means they will never know you are member of the group or that you ever post in the group. The only flaw in this though, is that people can’t ask to join the group if it is secret, they can only be added by a pre-existing member.

So, for one hour each day, the group will become a ‘closed’ group meaning people who aren’t members will not be able to see the group content or postings but they will be able to ask to join the group. If you want to join the group, click the link above!

Group rules:

1. You can feel free to post about your troubles but please ask a question on how to improve that issue or end it with a positive. EXAMPLE: “I’m having trouble following my meal plan, if anybody has any advice that would be great.” “I feel horribly fat today and i’m finding it hard, but tomorrow is a new day and i will be okay”.

2. DO NOT post numbers. Do not post calorie amounts, weights, measurements, etc.

3. Do not add people to your friend’s list unless you have that person’s permission first. Send them a message either on this group or private message them asking if it is okay to add them. Some people do not want fellow ED suffers on their friend’s list for privacy or personal reasons. Respect that.

4. If somebody breaks the above rules, please refer them back here or message me about it.

** as group members, you can feel free to upload any positive quotes, pictures, links, etc. Anything you think fellow members could benefit from. You can also feel free to add new members to the group, add anybody you think could benefit from the group.**

"What I know is this: I chose recovery. It was a conscious decision, and not an easy one. That’s the common denominator among people I know who have recovered: they chose recovery, and they worked like hell for it, and they didn’t give up. Recovery isn’t easy, at first. It takes time. It takes more work, sometimes, than you think you’re willing to do. But it is worth every hard day, every tear, every terrified moment. It’s worth it, because the trade-off is this: you let go of your eating disorder, and you get back your life."

-

Eating Disorder recovery by Marya Hornbacher, author of book Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia.

When i read Marya’s book i was sure she would die. Marya is an incredible person, she struggled for 15 years and is now doing well, healthy and happy.

“Celebrities who pretend to eat” I’m sorry but WHAT THE FUCK?

dyke-recovery:

Click here for pictures and guilt trip ‘journalism’ (i use the term ‘journalism’ very loosely)

A picture of Kate Bosworth eating at a resturant, enjoying (no doubt) her burger with the smart arse, weak as shit caption “Tell us again Kate. How do you stay slim eating burgers?” Whoever the moron is who coined this slideshow gallery, how, exactly, how is eating ONE burger considered burgerS? And WHY does eating ONE burger suddenly make it impossible to be skinny? Have you heard of portion control? Have you heard of All things in moderation? THAT is called healthy eating.

I got to the image of Courtney Love eating a pastry with the caption “My, my, such a big, juicy pastry for such a thin frame” and upon reading that i decided to write this little entry about your pathetic ‘journalism’. I am confused, when exactly was it considered accepted to guilt people about well, eating? As a person with an eating disorder, currently chilling the fuck out in hospital, reading such a caption immediately brought to mind Shit, they are implying that one pastry will make her fat. Would i get fat if i ate one pastry? I just had afternoon tea…afternoon tea is fun food. Will i get fat from afternoon tea? See you are encouraging unhealthy eating habits, unhealthy food relationships for the people reading your piss weak ‘blogging’. I’m grateful common sense currently prevails for myself with logic telling me ONE pastry can not make you fat. Eating, say….6 pastries a day along with other meals? Yeah, that would probably negatively impact on ones weight maintenance but for fucks sake, was there just nothing better for you to write about than celebrities eating?

It’s not the celeb’s encouraging unhealthy eating habits here it’s people like YOU. People who have fucking nothing better to do than judge other’s for eating ONE meal that is mainly carbohydrates (a round of applause to Lindsey Lohan for looking healthy, eating what must be a glorious pasta dish, no doubt), for eating ONE meal that is deep fried (Keira Knightley, hot chips will forever be delicious).

Are you aware of proper nutrition?

Are you aware that carbohydrates are a necessary part of a healthy diet?

Are you aware that fats are required to keep a person healthy?

I’d like to think you didn’t know these things because then it means you’re probably just an uneducated git rather than a soulless monster who feeds off making others feel like shit.

Cameron Diaz, yeah, she was probably faking it for the camera… And probably mocking douche-fucks like you who sit there and judge for what a person eats. I’d like to give you, writer of shitty arse entertainment news articles, a Gold Medal for being just as fucking ridiculous as someone calling Demi Lovato fat for being healthy, for recovering from her eating disorder…oh, but wait, you were probably one of those insensitive, blind, unintelligent, boring, jealous twits, too, weren’t you?
